Koschei just lay there, his head on his lover's chest, one hand over his ear to keep the drums out. And the noise of the gurgling pain that Barty was feeling from the blood that was leaking off him. He lay there for a while, trying not to think about what he'd done. And then, finally, he got up off him and disappeared into the bathroom wordlessly, unable to look at him. He had Barty's blood on his hands and he hated it, he wanted it off. He scrubbed until it was gone and stood in there for longer than was probably needed, unable to think. What was he even doing?

Eventually he came back in, face cloth in his hand. He could clean up Barty and it'd be like it didn't happen. Then they could just relax together and the lesson would be learned. Being with him is always better.

Moving in closer, he started to carefully wipe the blood off Barty's face, moving quickly to do damage control.

Barty half expected to be left alone for hours. It wouldn't be the first time. When Koschei returned he tensed at first, then forced himself to relax and just shifted backwards, trying to avoid him. It didn't really work, obviously.

"Just leave it." He wasn't sure why he said that. Probably because he didn't want Koschei fussing over him after messing him up first. Bastard.

"Shut up," Koschei insisted as tried to get the last of the blood off. Once his face was a bit cleaner, he used his sleeve to dry it so it didn't make the blood stick and redry. He wanted to show him he wasn't all bad, he wanted to show how nice he could be when the rules were followed. He'd share food and sit with him, if he was a good boy..

"Barty?" Koschei asked, stroking his hair in a way to try and show he meant well. "Do you want something to drink? Or eat? Ask nicely and we can even spend tonight together."

"No." He might have added a thank you normally, but his politeness wasn't really around at the moment. Spend the night together. Fuck, he didn't even want to know what the alternative would be. Seemed as if he'd find out though.

Closing his eyes Barty shook his head as if that could discourage Koschei from having his hand in his hair. He pretended it was someone other than Koschei, some stupid asshole and Koschei was out there somewhere. It was pretty much true, anyway, he supposed.

"Suit yourself," Koschei said bluntly, Moving away from Barty and heading out of the room, turning off the light behind him. He supposed Barty just need a few hours or so to relax, calm down, adjust a little. He just had to learn to be easier.

When Barty was tied up or busy, Koschei usually didn't do much for himself. He didn't cook, he didn't do any chores or really move. He often just sat down and lay on the sofa, hands over his ears, trying to snatch a moments peace.

It was over eight hours before Koschei got up again, peering back into the room he'd left Barty tied in. "Are you awake?"

Barty wasn't awake, actually. He had been for a good long while, trying to get out of the cuffs and only halfway succeeding with one before passing out. So by the time Koschei checked on him he was curled up against the bed frame, face turned against one arm and legs pulled up to make himself even smaller and he was crying. In his sleep and quietly, but given his nose was still clogged up with blood, there was a heave for breath every now and then or a broken sob.

Koschei stared for a while, watching Barty with a mixed feeling in his gut. He wanted him to stop, he really did. He hated someone he loved so much fearing him. Moving into the room, he sat on the edge of the bed and held his head in his hands, wishing he knew what to do. Wishing he knew how to stop. But he couldn't, he didn't know how any more.

So he climbed further onto the bed, trying to be careful and not wake him, then dropped himself down beside him and rested against him.

He loved Barty. He really truly did.
