Koschei heard the first door being broken down and flinched. And then the second one, which had been the hallway closet, that was less broken down and more picked carefully but when the door did open, Koschei knew he had been officially invaded. He knew the game was over. He could here the paramedics talk, reassuring Barty and trying to treat the poor sod he'd attacked, all the whole plotting over how to get him. They called him 'the suspect'.

And then they started on the bedroom door, knocking into it. And he knew it was over.

He pushed himself further back under the bed, wishing he'd kept his weapons. He didn't want to go, he liked it here. They were going to make him go.

All the questions asked. No, he didn't know for sure if Koschei still had whatever weapon had done this. He had no idea if he'd attack. He didn't answer to questions about the bruises in his face and he wished this nightmare could be over. He wished he could just wake up and have none of this have happened. None of it, not since years back.

Apparently once broken down, it was difficult to rebuild. Barty couldn't stop crying and the thought of facing Koschei right now had made him panic enough that no one had suggested anything like it again. Seemed like he'd finally failed, in everything.

Once Koschei had been deemed harmless, they entered the room, asking him nicely to get out from under the bed before they were forced to drag him out. He struggled, fought and yelled at them the whole time from that point onwards while he was cuffed and read his rights in full. As they dragged him out, two officers trying to keep him still, he tried his best to get over to Barty, to get some help.

He always helped when Koschei was in trouble, always protected him. Why wasn't he helping?

"Barty?!" Koschei yelled out, trying to wriggle free and get closer. "Barty! Help me, don't let them take me! I can't go outside, they're all waiting for me!"

At first Barty did try to get to him, but he, too, was held back, even if by gentler hands. They thought he was the victim in an abusive relationship and... he knew he was, but they didn't understand. They didn't know Koschei, they didn't know them. And Barty knew he had no way of explaining and he hated the pity with which everyone looked at him.

"I love you." He probably shouldn't say it, it wouldn't do either of them any good if they thought that both of them were crazy. He knew he was sane. Just. Trapped. Fuck, he hated this.

"I'll help you as much as I can, Koschei. I promise."

"Help me!" Koschei yelled at the top of his lungs, thrashing in their grip as he was dragged outside. So many people had gathered outside to see what was happening and Koschei couldn't help but feel overwhelmed, unable to breath or cope with how tightly he was being held. Oh God, they were going to kill him.

"Barty! Please, help me!" He tried again in blind panic, knowing it was a lost cause. He knew this was game over but it didn't stop from fighting against it, yelling for help. Hell, he yelled the whole way to the station.
