Not from the cold, but from anger. From all this pent up rage he could do absolutely nothing with.
If he waited, it would soon be over. He could leave and hide away in his room for a few days. Maybe he'd catch a cold? That'd get him some time off. There was nothing Koschei liked more than a few days break from this to just read his books or do some recreational maths. That stomach bug last month was ironically the best time of his life.
Though, man, what a day to where his teletubby boxers. They wouldn't even grasp the irony either, that was the worst part.

"Are you his friend?" Without waiting for an answer, Rodolphus kicked the ball at Koschei again to make sure he had his attention. "What did we tell you about having friends?"
"Yes, I'm his friend. He's my roommate." The boys were closing in on him and perhaps Theta was beginning to realize that he should have told a teacher instead of confronting them alone.

Could this actually get any worse?
When the ball hit him again, right in the stomach, Koschei spluttered and doubled over as much as he could, trying in a futile effort to renew his attempts to get free. This was like a nightmare, a truly horrible nightmare.
"He's not my friend," Koschei cried out desperately, unable to look at Theta. Anything to get them to leave him alone and to end this part of the day, even lies. "I just share a room with him, he's no one. I don't even like him. He's stupid, he doesn't get it! Just ignore him."
If he denounced his friends, they'd be safe. That was how this worked.

Theta, to be quite honest, looked completely out of his depth. "There are people coming." One day he would have to learn to be better at lying. "I told... I told the teachers."
"The teachers?"
"Yes."
"All of them?"
That was met with silence and then Theta got hit with the ball against his head.

"Please," Koschei finally said, something that he almost never said, but he had to appeal to their power play tactics. "Please, I'll beg. Just let him leave."
Sure, he could beg. He could that. Maybe. Either way, he'd do it for Theta. They were just words, after all, and he could waste words on meaningless pleadings if it meant Theta could be fine.
"I'll say and do whatever you want if you just let him walk away," Koschei reasoned carefully. "Because he will tell a teacher. Sooner or later, he will, and this won't be forgotten. So think wisely and let him leave. You get what you want anyway so ... so just stop."

"He's not my boyfriend!" Yes, Theta, that was the thing to focus on here, while having his arms held by a boy his age that was about twice as broad through the shoulders.
no subject
Idiot. Maybe he could publicly beat up Theta? That might put them off a bit. The only thing he could do now was wait for whatever was going to happen. How could it get worse than being tied up and naked with his only friendship about to end? Maybe it was that which brought back his defiance. "The way you talk about Tom, maybe you're the faggot. Go fuck him like a good boy, yeah? And leave me alone."
no subject
"Be careful what you say!" Rodolphus waited to make sure Theta was still breathing before gesturing to the goal. "Let's just tie them together and leave them there over dinner."
no subject
They'd taken the one thing he'd wanted from him. And he was prepared to give all he could back to them.
"Christ almighty, I thought you were a little weirdly close to Tom. Buying him nice things, following him around and obeying his orders," Koschei smirked a dark smirk, looking directly at his tormentor. "Let's face it, you're his good little doggie, aren't you? Maybe soon he'll throw you a bone."
no subject
He was lucky, very lucky, that Barty came by just then, noticing the crowd and quickly making his way through the rows. "Are you out of your mind?!"
Obviously he didn't wait for an answer, instead he bodily yanked Rodolphus away from Koschei and then ducking before the boy could start hitting him instead. The others, who had just been watching, did interfere now, holding Rodolphus back.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing, Crouch?"
"Keeping you from jail, you idiot. Did the doctors cut off the oxygen at your birth?" He looked at Koschei, raising an eyebrow. "Shut up for once."
no subject
He knew now, with a great amount of worry, that he was going to be very sick soon enough. His stomach was already threatening to go.
"Oh shit, Rodolphus, you messed him up bad," one of the boys said with an edge of worry, now very aware that this wouldn't be funny now the prospect of jail was made aware. What if Koschei was actually properly hurt? Where was Barty before? Clearly no one else here had any sense. Otherwise they might of interjected sooner.
Koschei let his head hang forward, fighting to keep conscious. He was pretty sure his head had been bashed into the goal post one too many times, everything was far too dizzy. Oh, and great, a teacher was probably going to come soon and they'd make a bigger deal than was needed. He didn't want that kind of fuss, he didn't want his parents to know he was suffering like this.
He tugged vainly at the ropes, hoping no one went for any authority figure. He just wanted to go to his room, he could sort himself out. He always did.
"Untie me quick or they'll come," Koschei slurred out slightly, blindly trying to wriggle free.
no subject
He looked down at Theta, who was apparently slowly regaining consciousness himself. Great, just great. At least every boy that hadn't bolted by now seemed willing to listen to him. That didn't keep him from shushing them away once Koschei was somewhat dressed again and lying on the ground. He crouched down next to him and put a hand on his shoulder, trying to catch his eyes. "Stay with me, Koschei." He held three fingers up in front of him. "How many fingers? You need to see the nurse..." How was he going to explain this mess.
no subject
Rolling over onto his stomach, he hunched himself up and retched onto the floor, arms wrapped around the ribs that still ached horribly. Nothing came out because, thankfully, he hadn't eaten yet today. He just felt dizzy, way too dizzy. It wasn't normal to feel this dizzy.
"No nurse, they'll know and they'll tell. This is our secret," Koschei insisted as he took several deep breathes before forcing himself onto his feet. He lasted nearly a few moments before he tumbled down completely. A valiant effort but he just couldn't keep himself up today. Nor could he really keep his eyes open either.
no subject
He waved to Theta. "Give me a hand?"
Theta walked over, while even the last of the other boys got lost. "Koschei? Koschei, are you..." He frowned, carefully, tenderly touching his friend's face. "You need a doctor."
"Too bad. All he has is us. Can you walk?"
no subject
Not sure if he could actually walk, the Master made a noble effort to move, not quite able to see and his legs not really working. They just sort of dangled awkwardly, unable to work properly.
This wasn't how be pictured his day turning out.
"Are we there yet?" he asked, desperate to stop and lie down. He didn't think he could go much further. And he'd barely gotten off the field as it was! Oh, this was it, the finale straw. He was going to put an end to this, he was going to kill them all. It's all he wanted any more.
no subject
Theta hesitated at first, but then he did walk ahead the few steps, after making sure that Koschei wasn't falling over. Barty held him in both arms now, thanking the heavens for the growth spurt he had hit earlier this year, finally, and the fact that apparently Koschei was still waiting on his.
"They're stylish. The boxers. And, hey, under the circumstances it wasn't small at all." He could throw him a bone, couldn't he? Especially since he doubted Koschei was even really listening.
He managed to lift him, carefully, although he had his doubts over how far he could take him.
"Don't pass out, Koschei. You have to stay with me, I'm not sure how bad your head was hit. Concussion, definitely."
By the time they reached the door, Theta had somehow managed to organize a wheelbarrow. Strange, but, well. It'd do. Together they managed to get Koschei inside.
"Watch his face. Don't let him close his eyes for long."
no subject
He had far too much homework for that. And besides, he had to start formulating a plan. this was the last straw, he couldn't live like this any more. Afraid, nervous and hurting. He felt revolting, being so much less than everyone else.
Koschei had to show them he was worth more. He wanted to see them all writhe at his feet. They'd pay for hurting Theta.
"I don't really want to stay away," Koschei admitted, raising one very unsteady hand to rub at his face. It really hurt to touch it but he was trying to get a good feeling of how damaged it was. Who seriously beat up a guy tied to a goal post? That was way over the line. "My ears are ringing."
It was nice, they accompanied the drums quite well. Like some sort of horrible song.
